Queer Against Colonialism! Our voices condemn normalization and support the cause.
We declare our full solidarity with the Palestinian people and our unconditional support for them in their ongoing struggle for freedom, justice, and liberation. We affirm that our struggle for human rights and equality will not be complete unless it includes our firm stand against the Zionist entity and its crimes against the Palestinians.
The Palestinian people have suffered for decades from policies of apartheid, forced displacement, killing, and siege, which have destroyed the lives of thousands of innocent children, women, elderly, and men. The occupation continues to besiege the Palestinian people, kill their sons, and expand settlements on their lands. We strongly condemn this occupation and all that results from it in terms of killing, marginalization, displacement, and torture, and we call for the occupying state to be held accountable for its crimes against humanity. The "Israeli" oppression of Palestinians, including queer people, is part of an authoritarian colonial system that seeks to crush the dignity of every Palestinian under any pretext.
In this context, we affirm that our support for the Palestinian cause is a support for the fundamental rights of all human beings, including the rights of queer Palestinians who suffer from the double oppression of the Zionist occupation, captivity, and internal social challenges. We believe that our struggle for our rights as LGBTQ+ individuals cannot be separated from our support for any people subjected to injustice, oppression, and marginalization.
We also see an additional challenge that poses a threat to the nation and the entire world: normalization with and support for the Zionist entity. We strongly reject any form of normalization with the criminal occupation regime, whether economic, cultural, or political. Normalization with the occupation contributes to legitimizing its crimes and supports its continued oppression of Palestinians across the globe.
In this context, we continue to demand that the Tunisian state criminalize all forms of normalization with the brutal Zionist occupation, whether at the governmental or popular levels. We cannot be part of a regime that rejects justice and freedom, and we stand against any attempts at normalization with this colonial regime that is spreading corruption throughout the world, not just in the Palestinian territories.
We, the Transgender Coalition in Tunisia, reject any alliances with the Zionist occupation or any organization/association/individual suspected of normalization. We consider our struggle for rights to be indivisible. Justice and liberation for the Palestinians is justice and liberation for us all. We reaffirm that our cause is one, and we will not stop the struggle until the Palestinian people achieve their right to self-determination and to live in freedom and dignity, for all of us - the queer.
